What is Mental Health?
According to an International Journal of Social Psychiatry, there are three ways to define mental health, which are "as the absence of disease, as a state of the organism that allows the full performance of all its functions or as a state of balance within oneself and between oneself and one’s physical and social environment(Bhugra, Till, Sartorius, 2013).
What is included?
Emotional
Emotions have a huge impact on how we feel with any given situation. Emotions can include happiness, sadness, anger, jealousy, and anxiety.
Psychological
Psychological comes from mental and emotions. This plays a big part in how you choose to react to a situation and how you may interpret a situation.
Social Well-being
Social well-being is associated with how well you are able to form healthy relationships and function in your environment. It is important to be able to interact with those around us on a daily basis.
Mental Health and Well-being
The American Heart Association states that "it affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices. Caring for yourself. It’s not only about your own personal well-being. It’s about protecting the futures of everyone you love and care for."
